Sound Quality and Sound test

The most important aspect of any earbud is the sound quality and that is why we have to start with it. when it comes to sound the earbuds have great bass and we can clearly see the 13mm drivers at work. Mid-range sounds are clear and you get crispy sounds when listening to songs with lots of highs like rock songs.

I listened to different genres of music and I am excited to tell you that Oraimo managed to balance everything. The sound is not muffled there is good separation and balance between vocals and instruments most of the time. It also brings out all the other components of a song to live I’m talking about components you can hear on the speakers of your phone. The 2baba version is tuned for afro beats in particular it also has four mics on each bud for delivering high-quality voice signals. Here is the sound test.

Oraimo Freepods 3 Review – Design

The charging case comes with a matte finish that makes it resistant to stains. At the front, we have 2baba’s signature and the Oraimo logo. There are three LED light indicators that tell you about the state of the charging case. the hinge is strong and it doesn’t fall on its on I find the sound of opening and closing the case satisfying it’s weird. Inside the charging case, we have a glossy finish and the buds sit comfortably inside while charging or resting. The carry case of the Oraimo freepods 3 is slightly wider than the freepods 2 that I tried out earlier in 2021. It is portable and will fit inside any pocket or handheld.

The buds also have a matte finish and they with the 2baba logo just above the tiny LED lights on the buds. It’s a stem-style earbud that a lot of people like and they sit in the ear comfortably. Now the ear tips can be removed if you want to use the earbud in awareness mode. This simply lets you know about what is happening in your surrounding while listening to music. Honestly, if you listen to music in high volume you will barely know what is happening. If you put the ear tips while using the buds Oraimo is calling the mode bass mode. This mode kind off blocks incoming sounds and delivers a richer bass which is mostly true. While using it for long hours without the tips I feel tired in my ears but with the tips, it feels a lot better.

Oraimo Freepods 3 Battery life and Charging

The freepods 3 has a great battery life and it can go on for 8 hours continuously with a single charge. Battery life is decent and it can blow away some top flagship buds in terms of battery. The longest I have ever kept an earbud in my ears was 6hrs and that was with the Tronsmart Onyx Neo. Oraimo has managed to beat that. The case comes with a 500mAh battery and each pair of buds has 45mAh.

If you combine the case and the bud you get at least 30 hours of music and calls. With 5 minutes charging you get 40 minutes of playback I tested this and I got approximately 38 minutes. It takes slightly over an hour to charge the bud inside the case and an hour and thirty minutes to charge the case.

Latency and Connectivity test

The buds use Bluetooth 5.2 which is great and connection takes place immediately after you open up the case. it is fast and you can stay 10 meters away from your phone and it will still work perfectly. In terms of latency, it is fast while playing music and making calls but the buds lag a bit while playing YouTube videos. I noticed it while streaming content on YouTube but It’s not something people will notice even advanced earbuds struggle with YouTube. Once you pair it with your phone for the first-time subsequent connections would be faster.

Oraimo Freepods 3 Price and availability

The earbud is available in a lot of retail stores in Nigeria but the prices vary according to location. I was able to pick mine up for the price of 18, 900 naira inside an oraimo certified store. You will be able to get better deals on their website linked HERE.

Rounding Up

As far as earbuds in Nigeria are concerned Oraimo keeps setting up boundaries for others to beat. There is no brand competing with them at the moment so the market is theirs for the taken. There are a lot of cheap earbuds out there that come with a companion app and audio codecs for streaming high-quality music. I wish oraimo will build a companion app just like we have with the smartwatches and also add at least AAC codec in their next iteration. Until then this is absolutely the best earbud you can pick up easily in an offline store in Nigeria.
